Volunteer and Internship Information

The Center for ReSource Conservation relies heavily on the help of 100+ volunteers and interns each year. Opportunities range from spending a few hours each week in the office or the sales yard to serving on an event planning committee. We are currently accepting applications for internship and volunteer positions. Click here for detailed volunteer and internship opportunities. Please send your resumes to related division directors as noted.

Paid summer internships with the Western Water Conservancy as an irrigation auditor are also available and training is provided. Contact the WWC Director for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

There is a lot to do at the CRC, so volunteers have a variety of things to choose from when deciding what to help out with. Weekly office volunteers help with fundraising mailings, archiving newspaper articles, designing ads, and occasional worm compost bin maintenance (everyone’s favorite). ReSource yard volunteers help with yard clean-up and materials processing. We also have a base of volunteers that helps us with our events throughout the year, such as the Earth Day 5K and the Tour of Solar and Green Built Homes. Volunteers often come to us through our partner organizations, such as the Boulder Rotary Club and CU’s Volunteer Clearing House.

Some of our volunteers have been with us for years and have carved out a special niche for themselves. Jean Lovell, for example, comes in each week and does research on grants and foundations funding. Many of our successful programs started with Jean’s preliminary funding work. Genoveva Arjona helped design greenerbuilding.org, and has cataloged ReSource’s entire inventory into a computer Point of Sale system. In fact, Genoveva has become so important to us as a volunteer, we’ve had to hire her as an employee.

Internships

We work closely with several programs at the University of Colorado Boulder, Naropa University, and college and high school programs nationwide to provide high-quality, realistic working experiences for students. Our internships are similar to our volunteer opportunities; there are a lot of opportunities to choose from.

We welcome students who are motivated, independent, hard workers that want to learn how a well-established non-profit organization works. Depending on our division needs for the specific time of year and the individual’s goals and interests, interns can work with us as event planners, program assistants, volunteer coordinators, research assistants, graphic designers, office assistants and more.

Internships are typically done in exchange for college credit. Paid opportunities arise when specific program funding allows.

It just doesn’t make sense to keep relying on other countries for our energy.

- Mary Dill, Orphan Solar program recipient
