The City of Longmont is offering matching grants of up to $500 (per unit) to property owners of multi family rental units who implement qualified energy efficiency improvement measures. These Matching Grants are in addition to other rebates available from Xcel Energy or the Governor’s Energy Office. A free energy audit must be performed by Scott Home Inspection prior to improvements. Qualifying grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Qualifying measures:
- Insulation & Air Sealing
- Duct Sealing & Insulation
- High Efficiency Furnaces (90% AFUE or higher)
- Central Boilers (92% AFUE or higher)
- ENERGY STAR® Refrigerators
- ENERGY STAR (or equivalent) Water Heaters
- Ultra low-flow Toilets
- Replacing Air Conditioners with Evaporative Coolers
Program Details
The Matching Grants are available to property owners of multi-family properties in the City of Longmont who have an active utility account and receive electric service from Longmont Power & Communications. The property must have received a free energy audit prior to implementing efficiency improvement measures. Matching grants under this program are 50% of the cost of qualified measures, after other applicable rebates, up to $500 per property.
Matching grants of up to $500 per unit are also available to owners of multi-family residential rental properties that receive a qualified energy audit and implement eligible efficiency improvement measures.
The Process
- Download, print and complete the Application for Multi-Family Housing Energy Audit for a free Energy Audit performed by Scott Home Inspection and submit to the Center for Resource Conservation.
- Schedule Audit and coordinate with tenants.
- Send Audit Report and Matching Grant Application to the Center for Resource Conservation (CRC) for review.
- Receive ‘Notice to Proceed’ from the CRC. This acts as a Reservation of Grant Funds for prescribed property improvements.
- NOTE: There is a 60-day deadline from ‘Notice to Proceed’ to implement improvements and submit project invoice(s).
- Complete proposed energy efficiency work.
- Submit project invoice(s) to CRC, itemize specific measure to each individual unit.
- Allow 4-8 weeks to receive grant payment from the CRC, check will be paid to property owner.
