Charlie Olness, Commercial/Residential Account Manager, Standard Renewable Energy
Charlie was first introduced to solar PV in 2001, while working in a Department of Energy research lab, after completing his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. While the research was focused on climate change and the cycling of nutrients through different ecosystems, Charlie was more interested in the solar PV system used to run the remote computers and data logging equipment. He realized the power of the sun was reliable, pollution free, and available to everyone, everywhere. He continued his independent study of solar technologies and in 2005 joined the solar industry full time. He started as materials manager and also contributed on the installation crew and then moved into sales and design. Charlie has also attended trainings with Solar Energy International (SEI), The Solar Living Institute (SLI), BP solar, Sharp Solar, and Sunpower, as well as, inverter manufactures SMA and Fronius. In 2008, Charlie joined SRE because of its strong engineering staff and the wide range of services and products SRE has to offer. While not climbing on a roof, Charlie enjoys spending time with his family and his 7-year-old daughter.
