The 2008 GEO Residential Solar Pilot Rebate Program
for Solar Domestic Hot Water Systems
The Boulder County program will begin taking applications for the lottery
Monday, July 14th!
The Center for Resource Conservation (CRC) will administer Boulder County’s pilot solar thermal rebate program with matching funds provided through the City of Boulder and Boulder County. Installations must be in Boulder County, half of the rebates will be designated for the city of Boulder.
Rebates will be offered in a lottery format. Lottery applications will be accepted electronically, the first 15 applications drawn will receive a confirmation letter that guarantees them a rebate payment so long as their system is installed by the end of 2008.
A signed contract with an installer must be submitted to the CRC within 60 days of winning the lottery and installation completed by December 1st.
Lottery information:
The lottery will be Monday, July 28th at 12:00 PM MST unless the minimum offering isn’t met. In which case, it becomes a first come, first serve until rebates are completed. A wait list will be generated in case the first 16 applicants do not complete installation.
Rebate details:
- If selected in the lottery, rebates will be offered at $3,000 per system, with the following minimum qualifications:
- Complete GEO rebate form. (Application forms available from a pre-qualified installer.)
- All applications must submit an invoice from a CRC pre-qualified installer that details the system. Click here for a list of eligible CRC pre-qualified solar thermal contractors.
- Systems will be required to meet GEO’s minimum performance requirement of 60,000BTU/day, based on SRCC rating for clear day/C interval (see http://www.solar-rating.org/ratings/ratings.htm, download "Summary of SRCC Certified Solar Collector and Water Heating System Ratings"), with nominal 80 gallon minimum solar storage tank size
- Existing homes are required to receive an energy audit from the Residential Energy Audit Program (REAP) before installation. New construction homes must comply with Boulder’s Building Department’s GreenPoints or Buildsmart Programs. Click here for a REAP Audit form.
- Rebates will be paid directly to the homeowner upon completion of the installation as verified by the installer.
- Anyone within Boulder County can be eligible (including PVREA and Longmont Power customers) except United Power customers.
