Million Solar Roofs Program

The US Department of Energy created the Million Solar Roofs (MSR) initiative to install solar energy systems on one million buildings by the year 2010, by stimulating local market demand and removig barriers by working through community partnerships. As the Boulder Community Parther, The CRC has committed to installing 500 solar systems by 2010. As a long standing partner with the DOE, our approach to the MSR initiative has been focused on education and training; providing technical assistance to residents commercial building owners, municipalities and local non-profits; helping local non-profits and low income communities to secure funding to install solar systems through the SPARC program that will increase their financial stability by lowering their operating expenses; and facilitating increased deployment of solar technologies by helping to break down barriers to solar installation in Boulder county. The CRC is committed to creating local partnerships and local inctenive programs and providing information on local, state and national incentives for renewable energy technologies. Many of the CRC's most successful solar programs are a direct result of support provided by the Million Solar Roofs Program.
