Enjoy Boulder Solar Week for Free
Volunteers receive a free Tour pass in exchange for helping out.
The Tour of Solar and Green Built Homes is coming up (Sunday, October 8th) and we need your help! We increased the amount of homes on the Tour (20 up from 9) so - we need a whole bunch of volunteers.
Jobs include helping the homeowners in the homes with traffic control, registering participants (see the photo of the fine gentlemen on the left), and handing out Tour books and maps. Volunteers work either a morning shift (9am - 1pm) or an afternoon shift (Noon - 5pm) and get a free pass to go on the Tour during the other part of the day (we'll also feed you lunch).
Volunteering for the Tour of Solar and Green Built Homes is a great way to learn about sustainable building and renewable energy technology, meet like minded people, and spend a Sunday giving back to the community. Please contact the Solar Week volunteer coordinator to sign up for a shift or for more information via e-mail or by calling 303-441-3278 ext. 24.

ReSource is Celebrating

Fort Collins will also be celebrating by expanding its hours to 7 days a week starting that weekend.
As if a 10 year anniversary and a grand opening wasn't enough, we're also celebrating the launch of the new and improved ReSource web site.If you haven't lately, visit www.ReSourceYard.org today!
Leaf Independence: Don't Lug Yours Around Town This Year
Compost your leaves at home.
Let's face it, while having a big yard and lots of trees is nice, it's a lot of work - especially in the fall. This year, instead of shoveling your piles of leaves into bags, loading them into your car, driving across town to drop them off at a leaf collection site, and driving back home, why not save some gas and compost them at home in the comfort of your own yard?
Composting isn't as complicated as you might think, especially with an easy-to-use bin like the Soilmaker.
If you've always wanted to give composting a whirl, purchase a Soilmaker compost bin today at ReSource. Questions? Contact our resident Master Composter.

PV Design & Installation Class in Need of System to Study
Volunteer your PV system for the sake of education.
We're looking for a residential PV system that the 25 students in the PV design and installation class can “tour” on the morning of Tuesday September 26th or Thursday the 28th. Panels need to be visible from the ground and students need access to the inverter and net meter or backup systems.

CRC Takes Official Stance on Boulder's Climate Action Plan
In an effort to comply with the goals of the Kyoto agreement, the Boulder City Council voted to place a measure on the upcoming ballot to raise $1 Million/year through an energy tax of $0.0022 (up to $0.0049) per kilowatt of energy use for residential customers, $0.0004-0.0009 for commercial, and $0.0002-0.0003 for industrial customers. If passed, the money will support the City’s “Climate Action Plan” (CAP) by investing in programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The CRC Board of Directors voted last week to approve an official position in support of the ballot question. To read the language of the ballot measure, click here.
