Meet Our New Executive Director

Introducing... (drum roll)... Keith Desrosiers.

After our former Executive Director Tom Plant was called upon by Governor Ritter to serve as the director of the Governor's Energy Office in January, we embarked on a search to find a worthy replacement (a tall order). After many, many selection committee meetings and candidate interviews (thanks to all of the wonderful candidates who applied) the CRC board of directors is pleased to announce their choice to lead the CRC into its next phase: Keith Desrosiers.

Keith brings fifteen years of leadership and management experience with private sector and nonprofit organizations to the CRC. His expertise is in the areas of nonprofit management, fundraising, and community engagement.  Keith’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Arts in Government from Skidmore College, and a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the Rockefeller College at SUNY Albany.  Prior to coming to CRC, he worked as Executive Director of the High Plains Environmental Center and Colorado Fourteeners Initiative and Development Director for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado.

Keith has also owned and operated several successful small businesses and served as a fundraising consultant to nonprofits including the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  When not working for CRC or volunteering for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Keith is most likely to be found outside enjoying Colorado’s mountains on his telemark skis or mountain bike. He's also a huge Boston Red Sox fan.

We're excited to have Keith on board. To welcome him yourself, feel free to e-mail him at kdesrosiers@conservationcenter.org. Be looking for more about Keith in the next issue of the CRC E-News.

Earth Day Success

New course, successful expo, great weather.

The CRC's Earth Day benefit, the Wild Oats Earth Day 4K Run/Walk & Expo was a great success! The event, held at its new location at the Twenty Ninth Street retail district in Boulder, attracted almost 500 runners and walkers, introduced a new running course to the community, and had over 30 exhibitors celebrating their commitment to sustainability. The event raised close to $15,000 for the CRC.

Thanks to everyone that came out to celebrate Earth Day with us. See the official Wild Oats Earth Day 4K race results at Active.com.

An extra special thanks to all of the volunteers that helped make the event a success. We enlisted the help of over 50 volunteers to help with water stations, course marshalling, registration, set-up and clean-up; and they were all coordinated by our incredible CRC intern, Kelsey Jackson. We couldn't have done it without you!

And of course, thank-you to all of the Wild Oats Earth Day 4K Run/Walk & Expo sponsors including:

Green Building is Going Mainstream

Check out what the green building market is up to.

Join the Center for ReSource Conservation, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Governor's Energy Office (GEO), and Xcel Energy for a look at the what's happening in the green building market.

Barbara Farhar will present the results of a five year study conducted by NREL that focused on builders' experiences with green building and the market's response to high-perfomance homes. The findings dispel the myths of conventional "building to code" vs. building to a higher standard of energy performance.

GEO and Xcel will provide new information on available and upcoming incentives to support the building industry in incorporating energy conservation and renewable energy features into new construction projects.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to learn about what's happening in the green marketplace. The presentation is scheduled for May 24th from 9am to 11am. Location to be announced. Contact Amy Ellsworth at aellsworth@conservationcenter.org or by calling 303-441-3278 ext. 13 for more information or to RSVP.
