Landscaping Volunteer Needed in War Against Weeds
The CRC's beautiful xeriscape needs some lovin'.
The CRC main office in downtown Boulder (17th & Walnut) has a beautiful xeriscape to prove to passersby that you can have your garden and be water-wise at the same time. Unfortunately, the CRC staff is swamped with work and hasn't had time to give the plants the attention they deserve.
We're looking for someone with a passion for landscaping to volunteer and help us keep our xeriscape healthy (and safe from weeds) this summer. We'd love to have help from a pro, and in return we'd be happy to display a "This xeriscape maintained by...." sign in the garden (which is on the high traffic corner of 17th & Walnut). If you're interested, please contact Kara via e-mail at kcsibrik@conservationcenter.org or by calling 303-441-3278 ext. 10.
In addition to help in the war against weeds, we're also in need of some patio furniture for our courtyard. If you have any, let Amy know by e-mailing aellsworth@conservationcenter.org or by calling 303-441-3278 ext. 13.

ReSource Boulder Hosts Salvage Art Workshop for Teens
We know you love ReSource, but what about your teenager?
ReSource in Boulder will be hosting a week long Salvaged Art Workshop in partnership with the YMCA from July 9th through 13th for teens aged 14-18.
From clock making to mosaic tile projects, participants will use material found at ReSource to create art. Local artists will present their work and talk about why they choose to use salvaged material. Daily discussions will focus on environmental stewardship, sustainability, waste prevention and how our everyday decisions and actions impact the world. The group will also take a trip to a green built straw bale home that is comprised of 60% reused material.
The cost is $225 for YMCA members and $275 for non-YMCA members. Registration is available through the YMCA at the Mapleton Center (2850 Mapleton Ave. Boulder; 303.442.2778) or the Arapahoe Center (280 Dagny Way Lafayette; 303.664.5455).

Solar Week Call for Sponsors
Support Solar Week and reap the benefits.
The CRC is excited to be planning its annual Solar Week event, including a week of educational evening workshops, the 12th Annual Boulder Tour of Solar & Green Built Homes, and (new this year) a full day conference on solar and green building technologies.
Solar Week has been increasing in success each year, exceeding our own expectations and attracting 1000+ people to the events throughout the week. Each year we experience sold-out workshops and an increase in Tour participant numbers. The bottom line: people are excited about Colorado’s sustainable future, and want to be a part of it.
Sponsor support is critical to Solar Week’s success. We invite you to participate and increase your company’s visibility in the community. For information on sponsor levels and benefits contact Amy at aellsworth@conservationcenter.org or Jenny at jhampton@conservationcenter.org.

PV Design and Installation Course Scheduled for September
Fall 2007 date announced for popular class.
Twice each year, the CRC partners with Solar Energy International (SEI) to offer a week long PV Design and Installation Course. The fall date for this year will be September 17th - 22nd.
Participants in the PV Design & Installation course learn how to use PV technology to produce electricity from the sun through practical design and installation of PV systems. The course covers system sizing, site analysis, hardware specification and component selection for typical applications and case study examples. Participants will install an operational system in the field and learn the proper use of tools and safety precautions. This professional level class is for electric industry professionals looking to expand their business offering, those that are seeking employment in the solar industry, or beginners that are looking to install their own PV system.
The PV Design & Installation class will be taught by a professional solar energy educator from Solar Energy International (SEI). SEI is the nation’s leading solar energy training institute, with a 15-year history of education in renewable energy technologies around the world.
Contact Amy for more information or to register via e-mail at aellsworth@conservationcenter.org or by calling 303-441-3278 ext 13.
